Grand Hornu-Mac's (19-6-2009)

Grand Hornu is a lot of things but I know it mainly because it's a Modern Art museum situated somewhere near Mons in Belgium. We've always wanted to go there but we were waiting for an exhibit that we HAD to see.
And now it has arrived!

The exhibit we had to see is "Jeux de massacre" and it was brilliant! The museum isn't as big as we had expected but the works were all perfect: funny, unexpected, visually pleasing and intellectually stimulating (see pic).
If you still want to see this exhibit you have to hurry because it will end this weekend!

But Grand Hornu isn't just a cool modern Art museum! It is also an old charcoal mining site. The whole site is built in a perfectly preserved and restored Neo-Classical Napoleontic style.
You can get a free audio-guide that will tell you the whole story of the site. And that story is very interesting and iconic for the region Grand Hornu is in.

And to top this all of there is a restaurant with great sandwiches and beer!
