Centraal Museum (Utrecht, NL, 16-2-2008)

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Other
My favourite museum in Utrecht because it's a labyrinth and has a weird eclectic collection.

This time there were two great projects shedding a different light on the permanent collection.
In "Script" they made scenes all based upon movies with the costumes and furniture collection. You are allowed to actually be in the scenes so it's great fun!

In the other exhibit artists had made rooms with artworks from the collection and their own art based on several themes (politics, imagination, realism, freedom, etc.).
Another great way of looking at the collection differently!

A part of the Centraal Museum is the Dick Bruna House, the creator of Miffy. Check out the site: dickbrunahuis.com

Aboriginal Art Museum (Utrecht, NL, 16-2-2008)

Rating:★★★★★

A small but fun museum with always some interesting and beautifull works.
It's the only Aboriginal art museum in Europe so if you want to know about Aboriginal art this is the place to go.

Da Vinci Expo (Brussels, 10-2-2008)

Rating:★★★★
Category:Other
This exhibit has been attracting loads of visitors and very low appreciation (especially by critics in magazines). So why go or why not go?

Why go:
- you already know enough about Da Vinci so you won't read the texts anyway
- you want to see some of his drawings and notebooks (I love his drawings!)
- you want to see his inventions for "real" (reconstructions)
- the Koekelberg Basilica is a great place to visit
- you bought a B-dagtrip so you don't have to wait in line

Why not go:
- there's an immense line waiting to get in
- too many people in too many small rooms
- visitors are mostly listening to their audio guides whilst blocking your view and your way through the exhibit (aaargh!!)
- there are hardly any paintings by Da Vinci himself
- you don't get to see the inside of the Basilica

Well, we had quite an enjoyable visit but as you see their are many reasons not to go ;-)

Maison Autrique (Brussels, 10-2-2008)

Rating:★★★★★

The Maison Autrique is a house designed by the famous Belgian architect Victor Horta.
If you like Art Nouveau architecture this is a definite must see!
The house has been beautifully renovated and is now a museum.

The interiors (and all the drawings for the flyers etc.) were designed by two great Belgian graphic novel makers called Schuiten and Peeters.
If you haven't read any of their work yet you definitely should!
The current exhibit in the Maison Autrique is about their latest work by the way.

The whole house is like a trip into their world; very exciting!
